Goals of SoSC

  • Provide enthusiastic science teachers with exciting new tools to ignite student curiosity
  • Share innovative and inspirational ideas with teachers nationwide
  • Recognize and reward excellence and ingenuity in science pedagogy
Host Partner

Science on Stage Canada relies on a host partner to co-produce their annual event.  The SoSC board of directors is thrilled to announce that the host partner for 2012 will be Appleby College in Oakville, Ontario. It is a spectacular location on the shores of Lake Ontario. This picturesque private school provides the perfect atmosphere for our coversations surrounding innovative science and technology learning. www.appleby.on.ca/

Our past host partner in both 2009, and 2010 was the Canadian Light Source (CLS), which is located on the beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon, SK.  The Canadian Light Source is one of the largest scientific projects in Canada and one of hte most advanced synchrotrons in the world.  This new research tool will help find Canadians solutions for global challenges in health, materials and the environment.  Inspiring science and technology educators from around the world, CLS has proven to be the perfect host for the SoSC science and technology fair.

Future Considerations

Each year the Science Fair will be hosted by a different host sponsor in a different region of the country.

Background on Science on Stage Canada

The foundation of Science on Stage Canada comes from the Berlin Declaration:
"Science on Stage and its predecessor Physics on Stage were multi-annual activities, established in the year 2000.  These activities aimed at stimulating innovative approaches to science teaching in Europe's schools through the active participation of science educators and by:

  • Fostering exchanges of "best practices" between teachers and curriculum developers;

  • Dialogue between teachers and education policy makers, and

  • Enabling the exploitation of modern scientific knowledge in the teaching in Europe's primary and secondary schools by bringing together active scientists, notably at Europe's leading research facilities"
